Founder’s Message for One Dollar for Change

Hi, I’m Christian Martinez, founder of One Dollar for Change.

This started with a simple belief: helping people shouldn’t be complicated. If someone is hungry, you feed them. If someone needs help, you show up. That mindset is what led me to start this organization.

In the beginning, we focused on direct help — meals, small financial support, and stepping in where people were being overlooked. It proved something important: when people come together, even one dollar at a time, real impact happens.

But as I continued this work, I started to see a bigger opportunity.

I’m currently working toward becoming a teacher because I want to give back to my community in a more consistent, long-term way. And through that process, I’ve seen firsthand how much teachers give — often using their own money to support their students and classrooms.

That’s where this mission is growing.

One Dollar for Change is expanding to support students and teachers — helping provide classroom supplies, snacks, and resources that make a real difference in a student’s day and a teacher’s ability to do their job.

Because when you support a teacher, you’re not just helping one person — you’re impacting an entire classroom.

At this stage, I continue to personally cover the operating costs so that donations go directly toward helping others. My goal isn’t to build something flashy. It’s to build something real — something people trust, something that grows with purpose, and something that continues to give back.

We started in Yuma, Arizona, and we’re preparing to expand our focus into the Eagar, Arizona community.

This isn’t just a nonprofit. It’s a commitment — to show up, to give back, and to prove that small acts of generosity still matter.

Thank you for being part of it.
